General purpose studios

Our General Purpose (GP) studios provide the backbone of Radio output to the Networks. The studios vary in size and technical facilities, and handle a whole range of programmes from major events such as Children in Need, to simple recordings, phone-ins and live transmissions.

70A is a one of our smaller General Purpose studios and is located in Broadcasting House. 80A is our Super GP / music studio and is located on the 8th floor of Broadcasting House. It is the largest of our studios and the only one which is of double height and has natural light. It is currently used for Radio 3's In Tune and Loose Ends, but can be used for a variety of music programmes.
